The Allen Institute coordinates outreach and engagement activities as a grant awardee for the BRAIN Initiative Cell Atlas Network (BICAN). This includes the creation of various databases and web products to support dissemination of information for the BICAN, including this information portal.

While BICAN data is generally provided with the most open license possible, there may be exceptions, including restrictions that arise from patient consent language or other sources, so be sure to   check each BICAN-related Resource for the applicable License Agreement and Citation  requirements. Additionally, there may be non-BICAN datasets or tools stored in repositories or referenced in papers with additional terms and obligations. For example, some members of the Network may claim patent, copyright, or other intellectual property rights in all or a portion of the data they have submitted. The Allen Institute is not in a position to assess the validity of such claims, and therefore cannot provide comment or unrestricted permission concerning the use, copying, or distribution of the information contained in the BICAN portal.
